I bought my orbifolia in january, and the brown and yellow spots on the big leafs were there when i bought it. If you have yellow leaves and brown crispy edges, then you've been too kind to your calathea and have overwatered it. Leaves turning brown and crispy at leaf edges.
Calathea louisae has leaves broadly ovate, dark green with light green splotches along the midrib.
I thought it was from over watering so i stopped. The leaves are purple underneath. Because of the diversity of the symptom: Ive found calathea definitely prefer filtered/distilled water.
